The Inter Cultural Cup 2007

As part of the Coca Cola Beach Volleyball Festival, the Volleyball Association are pleased to announce the inaugural running of the Inter Cultural Cup. The Department Of Justice, Equality and Law Reform supports this initiative and its aim is to promote diversity through sport. The competition will be run on grass courts beside the main Sand arena and the theme is fun and participation. The Final will take place in the main arena.


The Format

  • The Cup will be run on a tournament basis with a maximum of 10 teams taking part.
    It will be played as a 4v4 mixed competition with each team allowed a maximum panel
    of 6
  • The competition will run as two pools of five in a round robin format with the top two teams of each pool qualifying for the semi finals
  • Pool matches will start at 12.00 pm and the final will be held at 6pm.
  • All matches up to and including Semi Finals will consist of 2 x 12 minute sets
  • The Final will best of 3 x 12 minute sets and will be played in the Sand Arena
  • Teams must check in at 11am for a briefing in the VIP tent in the Sand Arena.
  • A copy of photo page of passport for non-nationals must be produced when you register on the day
  • Each player must sign a disclaimer form on arrival or will not be able to participate in the event
  • The Inter Cultural Cup will be presented to the winning team
  • There will be medals for winners and runners-up


Rules

  • All players must be 18 years or over and each panel must contain at least 3 non-national players.
  • At least 2 female athletes must be on the court at all times.
  • The competition is to promote fun and participation so no player who is currently
    registered as a Premier League player can take part, although they can coach a team.
  • As fun and participation is the theme of the tournament the organisers reserve the right to sanction any team that does not include all of its players as part of the games.

  • Each team will be awarded 2 points for each set won, 1 point for each set drawn
  • In the event that teams are tied in the pool a points difference will decide final positions
  • When the final signal sounds for the end of the set any rally in progress should be played to completion
  • Each team must supply a referee and a score keeper and be available for assigned refereeing
  • Teams who are late for their allotted playing time or officiating time may be sanctioned
  • ICC T-shirts will be provided and must be worn for all games
  • Normal VAI rules will apply except where stated
  • In the event of a dispute the tournament organisers decision is final
  • There will be one time out per set
  • There will be a maximum of 4 Substitutions per set
